Sudburians will elect a new Municipal Council October 22nd.
The new Council will face the difficulty of balancing strategic decision making within the Official Plan and 12-ward context and the reality faced by developers and builders – stagnant economic and demographic growth, an ageing population, declining activity within the housing market, and the rising cost of doing business and providing housing affordability.
The Sudbury and District Home Builders’ Association supports the Municipality and Council in shaping a bright and sustainable future and, as such, we work in partnership to help shape that future as well as bring the industry’s concerns and ideas to the table. It is important that we continue to contribute our knowledge and share our experiences so that the best decisions can be made today and tomorrow.
Often, Councillors and/or Council are unaware of the challenges faced by the development and building industries. This is where we come in.
As advocates for our members, the SDHBA will reach out to each candidate to educate them on the local building environment and industry’challenges, and shared ideas for improvement.
To be effective, your involvement and participation are required.
The SDHBA is asking for Members to volunteer for the Political Action Task Force and meet with Candidates to discuss the current state of affairs.
It’s a short term commitment with long term effects.
